Ms. Miskimon is a retired, award-winning radio news anchor/reporter and graduate of the University of Kansas’ William Allen White School of Journalism. A morning anchor position on WPTF Radio first brought her to Raleigh. Shortly thereafter, she was excited to join the morning team on WQDR Radio. Ms. Miskimon then moved to Capitol Broadcasting Company where she won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award. She stepped away from the demands of the news business and took up another demanding career—motherhood.
Ms. Miskimon is the proud parent of two adult children. Her elder son, Alex, is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a Naval Flight Officer living in Pensacola, Florida. Andrew, a former Cardinal Gibbons High School football player, is a sophomore finance major at Kansas who hopes to work in sport management following graduation.
While raising her boys, Ms. Miskimon was active in her school community where she volunteered in the classroom and worked as a substitute teacher. Additionally, she served on the Board of Directors for the renowned Raleigh Boy Choir and helped raise funds to renovate the RBC’s facility. Ms. Miskimon has also volunteered with Saving Grace of North Carolina, Catholic Parish Outreach in Raleigh, the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church’s Right to Life group, and the Family Promise Program that helps move needy families into permanent housing.
Most recently, Ms. Miskimon launched a small business, MEM Creative Concepts, that provides professional voice talent for telecommunications companies. A lifelong Republican, Ms. Miskimon helped distribute campaign materials throughout Apex during the 2020 campaign and served as both a poll greeter and an observer.
